In Russia, where my parents come from, International Women’s Day, March 8th of each year, is a highly recognized holiday celebrating all the women in our lives, mamas, sisters, cousins, aunts, friends, etc. It is a holiday that was always celebrated by my parents and one that I grew up thinking of as the “real” Mother’s Day, like the one celebrated in America.
