There are so many days that go by in a whir because I’ve got my hands full either with the girls, the blog or just life in general. When I remember, or am reminded by Papa, I try to relax and indulge in little ways that help me unwind. Doing so keeps me sane and ready to carry on with all that things still list on my to-do list.
Even if it’s just taking five minutes to sit in peace, a quick evening bubble bath or talking a stroll through the neighborhood, it’s simple and easy to find ways to take care of yourself. With two kids under 3 even going to the bathroom can be a family affair. Everyone always finds their way in there with me.
The greatest thing about the attitude I’ve taken in life is to always find the silver lining in everything. Even when I’ve got an audience in the bathroom. See the thing is that now that Preemie is mobile it helps her get into everything, including the toilet paper. Her new favorite thing to do is unroll the ENTIRE roll. Fun for her, not fun for me, the toilet paper or anyone else that encounters a roll of paper all over the roll. Until now.
Now has combined the softness and strength of their toilet paper with a fresh lavender scent to their rolls of toilet paper. The added touch of lavender is infused into the tube of the roll, awakening the fresh lavender scent with every pull of sheet. So instead of going crazy every time Hurricane Preemie starts to unravel another roll, I welcome her adventures by inhaling deeply.
And for those times when I have the chance to indulge in a warm and relaxing bubble bath, I no longer need to light scented candles or use air fresheners in the bathroom. Which adds to my relaxation as I add up the money I am now saving on candles. Side note, burning candles has always irked me because I always feel like I am burning money. I was very excited when Angel Soft added prints to their toilet paper (and decor to my bathroom for nothing extra), but these new lavender-scented rolls really have me hooked on hanging out in the bathroom more often. It’s the little things that get me excited.
Here are some tips on free and cheap ways to indulge yourself…

- Enjoy an evening stroll, just as the sun is setting
- Make some tea and grab a book, or the Sunday comics
- Read the newspaper from cover to cover over a cup of coffee in the morning
- Invite some friends over for some gab and lunch
- Plan a picnic for yourself to enjoy at the park while the kids are running around the playground
- Alternate mornings with your significant other for sleeping in vs both of you waking up early for the kids
