On Saturday, April 26, 2014, I will be walking in the March of Dimes in honor of my very own little Preemie Anabelle.
If you recall, Anabelle arrived at 30 weeks and 2 days gestational age after a scary 3 1/2 weeks of hospital bed rest, which was not so restful. She was a born a whopping 3lbs 13oz and was 16.5 long. We were fortunate that she was born weighing in the 80%+ and that I had the opportunity to receive steroid treatments to help mature her lungs.
As of today Anabelle is now 6 months and 3 weeks old but still only 4 1/2 months old corrected age. She is growing and getting stronger each day. Next week we will be starting solids even!
After 8 weeks in the NICU and countless follow up doctor appointments we are still not 100% in the clear. There are more follow ups to come. Every month we are at the cardiologist, gastroenterologist, pediatricians, eye doctor and countless others.
Her eyesight and hearing have been cleared as perfect. She suffers from bouts of reflex but they are manageable, just gotta keep a lot of bibs in hand. Her heart still has a small opening that has not fully closed. In fact, we have a follow up today with the cardiologist.
If you are in the Miami area, please consider joining my team. If you can’t be here, please consider sponsoring us by any amount.
Stay tuned and follow along as I will be tweeting live from the event and sharing pictures via Instagram.
Please show your for the millions of babies born too soon, weighing too little and needing your help.
On behalf of Anabelle and myself, I thank you for taking the time to read this.
Whether you have a preemie or not, I’d love to get to know you. How many kiddos do you have?
