Are you looking for love in all the wrong places? Still don’t know what it means to really love someone or be loved? Sometimes I wonder about love too which is why I was ecstatic to receive a copy of Aoede’s Is Love A Fairy Tale, free of charge, to review. It was a pleasure listening to the sweet sounds of Aoede’s voice.
Is Love A Fairy Tale? is the story of Aoede the Muse to mortals who is looking for love and the meaning of it. She travels through Wonderhaven, a magical kingdom, where she meets lots of different characters as she tries to uncover what love really means. Each character attempts to explain to Aoede the real meaning of love.
The CD plays like part audiobook, part CD song album, making this the perfect layout for a musical. It includes narration as a means of introduction to each part of the album. Aoede meets a shape shifter and garden gnome, then comes across a chance to mix it up with Albert and his ice-cream machine, eventually bumping into “Mr. Wonderful”, after which she ends up on the “Bridge to Nowhere” and finds herself among the ghost skeletons. Eventually she encounters her Fairy Godmother who helps to put things into perspective. Just like love, the album takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of a roller-coaster ride before finally discovering that love just is what you make of it. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad, because at the end of the day, love is bittersweet.

Released in September of 2012, Aoede’s unique musical story, Is Love A Fairy Tale? has already received 3 Award:
- Creative Child Magazine’s “Preferred Choice Award-Kid’s Cd Category”
- Tillywig Toy Award-“Sterling Fun,”
- Family Review Center’s “Gold Award”
It was also named Children’s Album of the Year by the LA Music Awards, was the ISC Winner for Children’s Music and John Lennon Songwriting Contest Finalist. Is Love A Fairy Tale? didn’t stop there, it was considered for Best Children’s Album in the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
