If you’ve ever had to move as a child you know that it can be a time that is filled with emotions. Children feel all sorts of emotions throughout their day, and getting to know them is a healthy part of growing up. Understanding emotions allows a child to express themselves without fear of what is happening. Joy is a favorite emotion in our home – especially with the girls.

Last night we enjoyed a family movie night with all of our emotions from Inside Out. After dinner the girls washed up while I got a few surprises ready for them. They loved seeing Inside Out in the theater and what better way to start a movie night than with a fun puzzle – an Inside Out puzzle of course!

As soon as the girls completed the puzzle, we all settled onto the couch to enjoy a special family movie night watching Inside Out on Digital HD. There was joy when the movie started, sadness when it was over, disgust that it was bedtime, fear of the monsters in the closet…fortunately for us the girls don’t know much about anger yet!

Synopsis

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
