With J-bird leaving for college just two short months, I am starting to feel anxious. I am so proud of his accomplishments in life and excited that he will be attending my Alma Mater. However, he will be about 1200 miles from home doing so.
All the creature comforts he has enjoyed at home will not be following him. He’ll need to do his own laundry, clean up after himself and make sure that he’s on time to class without mom checking in on him. My first-born is leaving the nest.
Yes I know he is only a phone call away, but it’s not the same. I prefer to be assured that he is as comfortable in college as he was at home. I want to get some things he can take with him to help him settle in.
When the graduate in your life is moving out into the world the greatest gift you can get the #GreatestGrad are all available at Best Buy. I’ve thought hard about what he might need and here are some of the items I am considering.
J-bird will be dorming in a housing setting called Suite Style. It’s basically a 3 to 4-bedroom apartment with a shared living room and such. I remember my college years, living at home and having everything I needed always. The one thing J-bird is going to miss the most is his gaming console. I strongly believe in kids needing something to unwind with and so when he’s not playing basketball, and just wants to hang back, I think a nice grad gift for him to be able to take would be an Xbox One.
He has definitely earned it. Graduating from High School as Salutatorian, with well over 300 hours of community service under his belt, and now he’s working at his first job to save money for college. I know that he will be overjoyed and surprised when I present him the Xbox One as his graduation gift. I can already picture his reaction.

Budget Friendly Gifts
A friend mentioned that she wanted to buy J-bird a gift too. I know she REALLY wants to, but she’s on a budget and I don’t want to throw her off. So when she asked what I recommended, I mentioned the BISSELL Cordless 2-in-1 Handheld/Stick Vacuum. After all he will need to be cleaning up after himself. We use a stick vacuum at home, and he loves to use it over the broom and dustpan. It saves time on cleaning, that he will need for studying.
