Ingenuity Washable Playard!

I know this is going to sound unbelievable but could you imagine a playard, yes of the most messiest area a baby ends up in, can be completely washable? I know I didn’t believe it either! So naturally when I was asked to review one, free of charge, I totally jumped on the chance.

Actually, it couldn’t have come at a better time as I was recently hospitalized on bed rest at 27 1/2 weeks pregnant. Luckily for my family we are fortunate to have some really wonderful friends who graciously took our toddler to stay with them on weekends for the last three (3) weekends while I tried to stay pregnant as long as possible under doctors orders. I asked my hubby to take the Ingenuity Washable Playard with him when he dropped off our baby girl so she would have a safe place to sleep.

My friends hubby took on the challenge of putting the playpen together. It was a breeze. The instructions were easy to follow! The only issue that kept presenting itself was that the fabric toy bar (with 2 dangling toys) did not want to see to stay in place and would pop off. We still haven’t been able to figure out why it is happening. My friends daughter wanted to play in the playard too.

Although we now have two (2) little girls, we are far from done and are hopeful for a boy soon. We are grateful that the playard came in the Whimsical Wonders design which has neutral colors. This removes that awkward feeling when you take pictures of a baby girl in a “boys blue” colored toy or gear. The Ingenuity Washable Playard is definitely a must have for every family that would love to keep their sanity. Personally I do give food (snacks) and drinks to my girl when she is in her playard. Needless to say by the end of the day I can discover many unknown items left behind, including caked on milk and juice, and crushed up cookies.

Living in Miami we love the outdoors, this includes heading to the pool and beach as often as possible. Being able to bring a playard with us helps to ensure Em’s safety and even a place to take a nap. Can you imagine trying to clean a playard after its been soaked in saltwater, sand or even chlorinated pool water? No amount of scrubbing using wipes would get it clean. With cleverly hidden zippers, the entire playard is removable and can be simply thrown into the washing machine to get it nice and clean. No more dirt, dust, spills, germs, sand, or spoiled milk.

There are many other wonderful features such as the wheels making the playard portable, the One Less Step feature for super quick folding, removable tray organizer, zip in bassinet, comfy mattress pad (also machine washable) and the removable changing table. I remember when Em was younger her other playard also had a changing table and we used it all the time, well once we had enough accidents on the couch, wet accidents and such.

I was a little worried about whether she would actually sleep in it. She’s been sleeping in her crib since day one and doesn’t sleep anywhere else. But looking at the picture below, she was sleeping like a baby! This playard got TWO THUMBS from Baby Em’s.

The Ingenuity Washable Playard is only recommended for children unable to climb out, less than 30 lbs and less than 35″ tall. The changing station should not be used for children weighing more than 25 lbs and the use of the bassinet should be discontinued once your baby reaches 15 lbs. These are all pretty standard limits among most playards. My only other con with this playard is its heavy weight, coming in at 37 lbs. Seeing as how I like the idea of using it as a portable playard, I will let my husband do the carrying.
