It’s take back those taxes weekend! Make sure to get all of your back to school shopping done this weekend!
It’s back to school time which means No Sales Tax in the State of Florida! You have to love this time of the year. Even though it means shelling out money for school supplies, it’s a great time to take advantage of buying some new clothes and even a personal computer. This weekend, August 1st-3rd you don’t have to pay sales tax on the following items: Clothing, footwear, certain school supplies, certain clothing accessories and personal computers are also included in the no sales tax holiday! 3-day sales tax holiday that will begin at 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013, and end at midnight Sunday, August 4, 2013. During this period, no Florida sales tax or local option tax will be collected on sales of clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $100 ($25 more than last year) or less per item, on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item, and on computers and certain related accessories selling for $750 or less per item when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.
The Florida Legislature passed the tax holiday bill in August, which includes another tax exemption event for energy-efficient appliances in September.
Youth bicycle helmets, child restraint systems & booster seats will be tax exempt beginning July 1, 2014
Sales tax should not be collected on these items, effective July 1, 2014.
