Family Friendly Snacking Done Right With Harvest Snaps

Disclosure: I received the following product(s) for review purposes.

My friend Michele introduced me to Harvest Snaps about a year ago. She was feeding them to her toddler twins as a snack and offered some to Em. Michele tries very hard to feed her boys only healthy snacks. I let Em have some because I trust Michele’s food choices. Em loved them. Several months later during a food shopping trip Papa starts to describe a snack he tried that one of his co-workers was eating.

We looked around and he spotted them, Harvest Snaps. I giggled at the thought of how much Em and her father are alike, even when they have no idea of what the other does or in this case eats. I will be adding this to my like father, like daughter list.

We’ve only tried the Lightly Salty ones before. In fact we didn’t even know other flavors existed. Note to self: ask local supermarket to request additional varieties. Since I knew what was in the box that arrived I let Papa open it up. I enjoy watching him open the boxes that I know contain items he is going to love.

In this case it wasn’t such a bright idea. I had to plead to get them back just to take pictures. Once he relented I snapped a few pictures, opened the Tomato Basil Lentil Snaps and handed the rest back to him. Em was still awake, recognized the packaging and grabbed a bag for herself. She’s almost 2 and KNOWS what she wants.snapeacrisps.jpgLet’s just say Em’s home cooked dinner was no match against the Lightly Salted Harvest Snaps. I didn’t mind in the least bit. She’s become a picky eater lately so I was comforted in knowing she was having something healthy.

With so many new yummy flavors and varieties it’s so hard to pick just one to snack on. The Harvest Snaps Peas line has its original Lightly Salted, and new flavors Caesar, Black Pepper and Wasabi Ranch. The new Lentil varieties include the Tomato Basil and Onion Thyme. My favorite was definitely the Tomato Basil. It made the perfect companion to my sandwich the other day.

lentilsnaps.jpgThe Onion Thyme is a friend favorite, my friend commented on one of my pictures that I HAD to try it next. The flavors were bold and distinguishable. You can taste just enough of each ingredient. It will be my next sandwich side. The Wasabi Ranch was too hot to handle for me; but it is a spice lovers dream. I am so glad I had something to drink. I really enjoyed the familiar flavor of the Caesar and can’t wait to crumble it up as a topping for my next salad.

The Lightly Salted and the Black Pepper flavors are simple yet standout on their own. Mixing them together in a bowl was J-bird’s awesome idea and it blended the flavors harmoniously. The Tomato Basil was fantastic. Just the right hint of tomato and perfect blend of basil. Each working alone and together bringing out the best flavors in each.

Working off of J-bird’s idea, I will be mixing up all the flavors together into one big bowl for the next get together we host. I think I will call it a Harvest Mix! We can probably even make a game of it by having the guests guess the flavor! Packed with protein, vitamin B, calcium, fiber and more, easily makes Harvest Snaps the baked snack that everyone’s got to have.

One suggestion would be for the company to add a resealable closure to the top of the bag. Realistically, in my home it isn’t even necessary since a bag doesn’t last long enough to be put back on the shelf. But in case you have some magical restraint that we don’t, this type of addition to the package might come in handy for you. I also have a question for the company: When are single serve snack sizes going to be available??? I call them kid friendly fun sizes, perfect for shopping trips and those much-needed five minutes of peace.
