Facebook has been a leader in the social networking game for many years now. Facebook has been around since my college days…back when you had to have a college email address to even have an account. But it’s not just what they are doing online that is awesome, but what they are doing offline! Last October, Facebook launched TechPrep—a free online resource in English and Spanish for parents, guardians and anyone who wants to learn more about computer science. And now they are taking the program on the road and coming to a city near you – next week Facebook TechPrep Roadshow is coming to Miami, before heading to Chicago, Durham and East LA this summer.
Facebook TechPrep Roadshow
They’ve already seen success with the TechPrep Roadshow in Oakland, Menlo Park and East Palo Alto in California and as such want to continue to provide opportunities to people everywhere. On Thursday, June 23rd from 5:30 – 8:30 pm the Facebook TechPrep Roadshow will be at Miami Dade College – North Campus (Conference Center – Room #3249 – 11380 Northwest 27th Avenue, Miami, FL 33167) and is open to parents and kids of all ages in English and Spanish.
Join Facebook TechPrep for a fun and informative presentation on how to get involved with computer programming. Enjoy dinner, presentations from Facebook staff, and learn where to find tools to get started with computer programming!
The event is free to attend and even includes dinner but they do ask that you RSVP. For more information and to reserve your spot, visit the public event page here: https://techprepsummitmiami.splashthat.com (Spanish language page here).

How cool is that; tailored for those who are at home instead of just in school. Count me in!
There is none in my area.
