Ever Felt Like The “Odd Mom Out”? It’s Time To Own It!

Disclosure: Many thanks to Bravo for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to view their latest comedy Odd Mom Out!

To say that life has brought me many blessing is an understatement. It is a challenge to try to keep the ups and downs of life sorted out and having the right support system is imperative. When you are feeling like the odd one out, be it at school, work, on the internet or even on the playground, having that person that totally gets you is like having a floation device on stand-by. Fortunately for me I’ve got a number of life-saving support systems because anyone that knows me knows that I am ALWAYS that ODD ONE OUT or more likely ODD MOM OUT.

Let’s look at Little League baseball for instance. Male dominated sport, wouldn’t you agree? Well, when you are a single mama – and a bit tomboyish – with a little boy to raise, it’s much more likely that you are going to try to get involved in a big way. For me that started with being at every game, and grew to assisting on the field, until one day I was sitting in a room being nominated President of the local Little League program. I wasn’t alone, we did have a few other women on the Board, but nowhere near the overwhelmingly male-dominated presence. Odd Mom Out? Yup, in a big way too! Here was little ‘ole me trying to break into the world of Little League baseball in a room full of professionals, i.e., big business owners, attorneys – LOTS AND LOTS of attorneys.

The women on the Board bonded to each other like glue. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t always agree on everything – what group of women do? -, but we were always supportive of each other. Could you imagine yourself in a shark tank without a cage? That’s what life is like for a number of mamas who consider themselves an ODD MOM OUT. Such as the lead actress of Bravo TV’s newest comedy titled “Odd Mom Out”, Jill. Just one look at her in the middle of the shark tank “aka the other Upper East Side mamas” and you can totally tell she’s an Odd Mom Out! No, I am not judging, okay, maybe I am, but really, just take a look at the Odd Mom Out trailer and tell me you don’t see the same thing?

The Odd Mom Out cast is full of surprises and a fan favorite will be Jill’s funky character. Totally guilty of doing things out of my league in the past, and sometimes it still happens. Not because I need to fit in, but because sometimes you just want to fit in. But like Jill, my conscience comes back to bite me and remind me that I need to just be me, even if that means being the Odd Mom Out. I am also totally loving her BFF Vanessa and down-to-earth hubby! Vanessa reminds me of some of my own friends that help keep me grounded. She’s witty, smart and totally lovable. Jill’s husband is stuck between a rock (his supportive wife) and a hard place (his obnoxious family), making them a great couple who can easily laugh together at his crazy family – “Von who?”.

One of these is not like the others….can you tell which one? Be sure to tune into the Odd Mom Out Premiere on June 8th at 10/9c on Bravo TV to find out what makes Jill the Odd Mom Out!
