Dinner Made Easy With Idahoan Mashed Potatoes On Your Table

Disclosure: I participated in this event on behalf of Wendy‘s Bloggers for Idahoan Foods. I received Idahoan products to facilitate my review.

When I cook a meal I like to cook from scratch. Thanksgiving dinner..from scratch, midweek dinner..from scratch, weekend dinner…from scratch. Can you picture it? After a LONG day the desire to come home and cook dinner from scratch is nearly non-existent. We are a family that loves our starch. Especially potatoes, baked, french fries, au gratin, homestyle, and mashed! It doesn’t matter what form or shape but we love to have potatoes as a part of our dinner. Personally I am big mashed potato type, as is Preemie.

Peeling, cooking, and mashing potatoes so that I can serve the family a home cooked meal requires A LOT of time. Time that I don’t always have. I’ve had “flaked aka fake” potato before and it just isn’t the same. Even when we go to restaurants I can truly tell the difference between what I consider real mashed potatoes and boxed. It’s been a long time since I’ve had mashed potatoes that came off a store shelf. Being the adventurous type I agreed to try them once again.

I decided to test them out on Papa, by not telling actually telling him what I was serving. Over the next week I ended up making Idahoan Mashed Potatoes three times, Buttery Homestyle, Loaded Baked and Roasted Garlic. Papa was onto me! He made a comment about the mashed potatoes being creamier than usual…was he saying my potatoes are lumpy???

Creating side dishes with Idahoan proved to be quick, easy and delicious. Serving baked salmon alongside the Idahoan Roasted Garlic created a very adult like dinner for Papa and I over the weekend. Then I decided to make it fun for Em. I served her the Idahoan Buttery mashed potatoes in a soup cup and placed fish sticks into the mash. This created a mashed potato dip and she had a blast “fishing” out her mashed using the fish sticks as a utensil.

When I revealed to Papa that we hadn’t been eating “my” potatoes all week he was very much so impressed. As was I! Which is why although I normally don’t find the time, or simply forget, to eat during the day, I was able to make myself some Idahoan Loaded Baked with fish fillets. If only the fish fillets cooked as quickly as the potatoes!  The quality really surprised me and nothing more was needed to be added, neither salt nor butter to any of the flavors we tried.

Side note: Making the potatoes is a simple two step process. Boil water, add potatoes! Be sure to use just a tad bit more water than required, or be very careful not to over-boil and reduce the original amount of water. If you don’t have enough water you will end up with more of an art project than yummy creamy Idahoan mashed potatoes.

You can find Idahoan flavored mashed potatoes in some many delicious flavors like Buttery Homestyle, Four Cheese, Loaded Baked, Baby Reds, Roasted Garlic and more! All of Idahoan flavored mashed are a breeze to make. A real time saver for busy parents, perfect when you want to create a homemade meal but just don’t have the time to do so. Want to get creative with your potatoes? There are lots of Idahoan recipes posted on the Idahoan website for your convenience. Replicate them at home or put your own twist on them to make it fun and appealing for your family.

The Idahoan Story
Idahoan is a grower-owned company in Eastern Idaho which began over 50 years ago. Idahoan uses 100% Idaho potatoes in all of its products. The rich, volcanic soil, warm days, cool nights and mountain water from the area offer the perfect conditions for growing high-quality potatoes.  Idahoan uses a proprietary one-pass process in dehydrating these potatoes which allows them to retain the authentic, homemade taste and texture without the hassle of washing, peeling, boiling and mashing. In fact, families can enjoy our mashed potatoes in as little as 4 minutes. Simply put, Idahoan is in the business of making lives easier.
Today, Idahoan offers a full range of products including flavored mashed, original mashed and casserole style dishes such as Scalloped and Au Gratin.  Flavored mashed options range from traditional tastes such as Buttery Homestyle and Loaded Baked to more adventuresome varieties such as Bacon Cheddar Chipotle and White Cheese.  Idahoan also offers its top varieties in convenient microwaveable cups which are ready in 90 seconds and perfect for an on-the-go lifestyle.
