Last night we started the New Year with a tour of the Willy Wonka factory – for an evening we will not soon forget. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by taking the girls to see Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. A truly sweet delight for kids and parents alike. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is playing at the Arsht Center through January 5th and is a must see!
Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Roald Dahl’s amazing tale is now Miami’s golden ticket! It’s the perfect recipe for a delectable treat: songs from the original film, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside a toe-tapping and ear-tickling new score from the songwriters of Hairspray.
Willy Wonka is opening his marvelous and mysterious chocolate factory to a lucky few. That includes Charlie Bucket, whose bland life is about to burst with color and confection beyond his wildest dreams. He and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a mesmerizing joyride through a world of pure imagination. Now’s your chance to experience the wonders of Wonka like never before – get ready for Oompa-Loompas, incredible inventions, the great glass elevator, and more, more, more at this everlasting showstopper!
Last nights show stealers were: Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket (played by Ryan Umbarila), Grandpa Joe, the Oompa-Loompas, Augustus, and Mrs. Gloop. Truth be told the entire cast and ensemble were delectable! The girls eyes locked with the stage and never wavered throughout the entire performance. Don’t miss this sweet musical while its here – it makes for a magical family date night!
Here’s what the critics have said:
“A big treat ready to satisfy any sweet tooth looking for a golden ticket!” – Entertainment Weekly
“The sweetest new show on Broadway reimagined for a new generation. Brings pure imagination to life.” – ABC
