Mama’s Mission
introduces the
MIRA Digital Kitchen Scale
Before I got pregnant with Em I had decided to get fit. I joined the gym and hired a personal trainer. I also had joined Weight Watchers with a friend, more for the company than the moral support.
As part of my routine with my personal trainer and WW I began to watch my daily caloric intake. This included creating food portions. I was no good at visually picturing what 2 oz of turkey or fish looked like. I went to the store and bought a cheap food scale. It was so cheap that it was made out of plastic and stopped working long after just a month.
Not only was it cheap but near impossible to get an accurate reading with the plastic “boingy boing” arrow constantly jumping up and down between weight measurements. I should have invested some more money into a real kitchen scale. I wish I had known that for just a bit more I could have had a real quality scale.

I am totally loving the MIRA Glass Digital Kitchen Scale. What a beautiful addition to my kitchen! The sleek and stylish MIRA scale is really one accessory I want to keep displayed on my counter. It sure does make my old laminate counter look cooler. It is slim enough to store just about anywhere without having it get in the way, even if you have to put it away into the cabinet. It’s small enough to even fit in your miscellaneous kitchen drawer!

I’ve had the opportunity to review a few other MIRA products like the Digital Bathroom Scale. I find the products to be quality made and customer oriented. MIRA is producing items that are modern, fun and useful.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when a product I just spent good money on requires batteries. You look on the box and it says (Batteries Not Included.) What do you mean not included? What the heck am I supposed to do with this product now? It recently happened with a toy I purchased for Em. I was so HEATED! It’s been over a month and she still hasn’t had the chance to play with it because I keep forgetting to buy the batteries. I digress….
MIRA ALWAYS includes the required batteries with their products. Like I said, they are definitely customer oriented. I mean how much does it cost a company to purchase the batteries in bulk. Small conveniences like this really can make the difference for me when making choices between products.
So let’s talk a little about the scale. It is a professional grade that is made with beautiful tempered glass, which is 4 times stronger than normal glass. I love that it is made of glass because it means easy cleaning. There are no grooves in which food or liquid could get caught and containment the scale. For forgetful people like me it even features an auto-off feature to save the battery life.
The extra-large back-light LCD is perfect for late night kitchen visits, I will explain more about why later. The LCD screen will display at your request weights in pounds, kilograms, grams, and ounces (lb./oz, kg/g, fl.oz., ml). On each side of the LCD screen are advanced touch sensitive buttons for easy operation. The on/off TARE function zeroes out containers like plates, dishes or cups being used to measure food or liquid. The right side button changes the measurement between types providing accurate weight measurements from .1 oz. to 11 lbs. (1 gram to 5 kgs). The MIRA digital kitchen scale uses 4 precision sensors to generate its accurate measurements.
You can use the MIRA scale as you see fit! Portion control, cooking , baking or anything else! My anything else would be accurately measuring the portions of breast milk I give to Preemie. Twice a day I need to add special formula to her breast milk for extra calories. The doctor has given us a ratio of two teaspoons of powder to 165oz of breast milk. When I store expressed milk I can never really tell how much is in the bag to mark it accurately. Now that I can weigh it and mark it properly, none goes to waste. Before we would end up talking several bags out of the freezer trying to get the perfect amount and usually ended up having to waste my precious “liquid gold”. Sometimes I have to do this in the middle of the night. In place of turning on a bunch of lights, the back-lit large LCD helps to keep me guided without the need for squinting during those middle of the night feedings.
The MIRA digital kitchen scales are available in many colors: Black, Blue, Red, White, Grey and Brown (looks more Peachish though). Do you have a color you would love to get the MIRA in to match your kitchen or appliances?
Are still asking yourself why you should choose a MIRA digital kitchen scale when there are other options? Let me outline some of the awesome features:
* Easy-Access “Tap On/Tap Off” Touch Sensitive Buttons
* Small kitchen? No problem! It’s slim shape saves valuable counter space
* Batteries are included
* Range of tinted glass colors to match any kitchen décor
The MIRA Digital Kitchen Scale is available for purchase on Amazon. If you have Amazon Prime or Amazon Mom then you qualify for free 2-day shipping!

This looks like a great set of scales. I have a small electronic set which is great, but you’re limited by how big a container you can put on. This one would be big enough for anything!

I love my kitchen scale – it’s so useful! I had a preemie too – it never occurred to me to use the scale to weigh that booster they gave me! Brilliant. Confession: I use mine to weigh packages too!
