The attached picture is not my actual legs! I’m not THAT hairy lol.
We are headed out to a water park for Day 2 of the #RoadTrippinChaos staycation.
So as not to scare anyone while we are there, I decided to shave my legs and underarms. Something I don’t care for, much less normally have time for. It’s such a boring and mundane task that girls are encouraged to do from a young age. But that’s a topic for a different blog post.
And then it dawned on me. As I’ve gotten older I realize that I have gradually started caring less about shaving. I mean, it’s totally not fair that we have to spend so much time shaving what is natural. If we were meant not to have hair on our bodies then we wouldn’t be growing it right?
While Papa probably could care less, only because it means less people seeing my actual legs lol, I’m sure it doesn’t even dawn on him to even check if I have shaved or not. He loves to show me off, but not in a sexual way. He prefers to reserve that for himself.
So it makes me wonder about other moms and their shaving habits. I can name at least 10 things I’d either rather be doing or NEED to be doing than shaving.
Have you noticed a change in your shaving habits as you’ve gotten older? Do you shave for yourself or more so not to scare people too?

I’m not a mom but as I’ve gotten older I definitely shave for others rather than myself. I guess that’s what happens when you grew up in an all girls school and you’d have contests in the winter as to who could stand the longest without shaving LOL it actually gets softer the longer it gets…. LOL but you still gotta keep those puppies clean…. at least us single gals 🙂 hehe
Ha ha this post made me laugh. When I was single and kidless I was a shaving fiend, even the bikini area. Now I am 40,married 8 years with two kids, I will shave if I have to. Going somewhere fancy and wearing a dress, shavin to the knee. Going to the beach shavin to the thigh. Oh you would think summer time would be shavin season, nope that’s why God created capris. I will admit I shave my arm pits everyday, but hairy pits is a pet peeve of mine, and I don’t want to peeve myself.
Same here, I don’t seem to shave as much any more like I did when I was younger, I used to shave or wax as soon as I could feel a little stubble starting, now it’s just meh, maybe I’ll get around to it tomorrow, but when tomorrow does finally come around yep it’s time to shave, can’t embarass the hubby lol. So ya I think we shave less the older we get
Body hair is such a complicated topic for women! My leg hair is naturally pretty light colored and sparse, so it’s never been a thing I’ve felt very pressured about, but during the summer months it’s something I would usually subject myself to if I was choosing to wear shorts. I let it go for a long time and felt quite feminist about it all, but then I started taking some anti-depressants that really, really worked for me and I found that I liked my legs when they were freshly shaved– I felt more … polished, I suppose? But it’s still not a very big deal. And when I happen to notice another woman has not shaved her legs in a while, I secretly like her a little better than my default opinion of people I don’t know.
Basically, it all comes down to being our bodies, our choices. I try not to judge people harshly for making choices I wouldn’t (or don’t) make, provided those choices aren’t hurting anyone else.
JU SO FONII!!! Take heart dear mujer, you are not alone and the hairs get fewer as we age. BB usually doesn’t bother, but when the hairs are going through the leggings, that’s my clue to take out the razor. ; ) BB2U
