Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Disney. I received an all-expense paid trip from Disney so that I could gather and share this information about Season 6 of Baby Daddy. However, all experiences and opinions are always 100% my own as this post is written by me in its entirety.
Not many shows stick around past one season, two if they are really luck. So when you have a show returning for season six and you haven’t seen, you’re missing something good. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the previous five seasons of Baby Daddy I’m happy to catch you up – stop reading if you don’t want to know any spoilers. Baby Daddy which premieres its start of season six on Monday, March 13th at 8:30pm on Freeform stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau (Ben), Derek Theler (Danny), Tahj Mowry (Tucker), Melissa Peterman (Bonnie) and Chelsea Kane (Riley). You can watch all the previous episodes on Netflix, go on, I’ll wait…
Baby Daddy Season Six
Okay, awesome, glad you are back! Here’s what happened between season one and season five – Baby Emma was dropped off at Ben’s doorstep. Riley is in love with Ben, while his brother Danny is in love with Riley. Ben and Danny live with their friend Tucker – who eventually takes off to LA. Riley and Danny get together FINALLY. Bonnie (Ben and Danny’s mom) is the doting grandmother but don’t call her that because she’s “young and hot” – AND REALLY FUNNY! So now that you’ve watched the previous five seasons let’s chat about what’s to come in season six. Ben had a baby dropped off at his doorstep, cute adorable little Emma. Tucker returns from LA – albeit a little traumatized, Danny and Riley prepare to have a baby, Ben is still searching for “THE ONE” and Bonnie is well, Bonnie!
So here’s whats happening during the premiere of season six:
In the episode “To Elle and Back,” three months have passed since the finale, and Ben is still enthusiastically searching for the mysterious Elle. Danny and Riley are hunting for a good doctor to help with the pregnancy, and Bonnie desperately wants to be involved. Tucker is back from Los Angeles, but he refuses to tell anyone what happened when he was there.
Behind the scenes of Baby Daddy and Season Six
What can we expect besides pregnancy in season six?
Chelsea had a lot of fun wearing a pregnancy suit the entire time, but also said it’s a big season for everyone. Many of the story lines that started in the beginning with the pilot are wrapping up this season in a beautiful way. There’s a lot for the fan to see – especially with so much that’s happened in the last five seasons. Tahj told us that the show will be diving a little deeper into each character – especially Tucker. Ever since his return from LA he jut hasn’t been the same. As for Derek – Danny gets confused a lot, and now he’s got a pregnant girlfriend to juggle too. Derek also shared that his on-screen brother Ben is still searching for his mysterious love interest with whom he crossed paths at the end of last season. Their mom Bonnie played by Melissa is floating around while Brad (her husband) is in prison – and Riley’s his hormonal pregnant attorney. Riley has a big story line this season since she’s pregnant, but also is trying to hide her pregnancy from her boss.; Basically she’s just an emotional train wreck for most of the season.
You are know my love for children, so I needed to know what it’s like working with kids on the set?
The current girl, or rather girls, playing Emma now are twins – not a first for Tahj, seems he’s been around twins all his life. I think they slipped during our interview and revealed the gender of Riley’s baby, but I’m going to keep hushed so I don’t ruin any surprises for those wanting to wait it out to find out. The current twins playing Emma have been with the cast for three seasons now and it’s been fun watching them grow up. And now they’ve got lines too which makes it all that much cuter – and brings a new life to the show. They girls keep the cast on their toes at all times. They’ve really become family and the cast is looking forward to watching them grow up.
What’s the deal with the tension between Bonnie and Riley?
It’s basically that love hate relationship between mother and daughter in law. Bonnie always seems so hard on Riley, but it’s really because Bonnie does love and care for her like a real daughter. It sounds like we’ll be seeing more of that breakthrough this season. For the cast season six is not just the funniest season they’ve done, it’s also grounded and heartfelt. It’s not just setups and jokes, its stories and characters.
How fun is it working with Melissa?
What out for Melissa because you never know what she’s going to come up with. She’s a comedic genius. The cast gave us a little behind the scenes from the episode with Tucker and Bonnie at the airport. “In the episode where Tahj is trying to run away from Melissa and on take 3, they’re coming back from the airport and she picks up a full-sized suitcase and just hits at Tahj. So, its stuff like that which happens on the third take. Whenever we’ve been with Melissa specifically, you’ve gotta be ready. You’ve gotta be ready because it could also be painful. She’s also known for just making out with extras just for the fun of it. Every season, it’s almost like three times a season. She just makes out with a stranger that’s not expecting it. She just grabs them and start kissing them.”
As you know, I’ve been both a stay at home mom, and a work from home mom and a mom juggling work, school and babies. Balance isn’t always easy but it can happen. With Riley being an attorney and a new baby on the way, I wanted to know if she planned on becoming a stay at home mom or would she try and find a balance?
Chelsea said “What I loved so much about some of my story lines this season is Riley is dealing with the fact that she’s worried that she’s not going to get a promotion and will be treated differently because she is pregnant. She’s a lawyer and loves her job and is good at her job and there is kind of those conversations that are happening between her and Danny. With her boss she’s so worried that by being a working mom, that she’s just gonna screw it all up. I mean, Danny is gonna be the best dad, he’s so prepared and reading all the books and so Riley is really emotional about the fact that. At which point Tahj joked that it was really a lot of “picture books” that Danny was reading. Chelsea continued saying “I think she wants to be a career mom.”
