WICKED is returning to the for the Performing Arts in Miami from March 11 – 29, 2015.
In earlier years when Wicked was here in Miami, it was most definitely the talk of the town, and now it’s back by popular demand. I recall seeing it years ago with my mama, just as I had seen the Wizard of Oz as a child. Such fond memories are irreplaceable. But enough about me, this is all about you and how you do NOT want to miss this incredible performance!!! And to give you the chance to see it, the production will conduct a pre-show daily lottery at the box office, making a limited number of orchestra tickets available at $25 apiece – cash only. Lotteries like these happen on Broadway all the time, but rarely in Miami. Miami is definitely one lucky city!
Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for “the most complete – and completely satisfying – musical in a long time” (USA Today).
Variety calls WICKED “a cultural phenomenon,” and it continues to break box office records across North America. Winner of over 100 international awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony® Awards, WICKED is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times).
How to enter the lottery
Entries for the lottery will be accepted at the Arsht Center box office beginning two hours prior to each performance; each person will print their name and the number of tickets (1 or 2) they wish to purchase on a card that is provided. Ninety (90) minutes before curtain, names will be drawn for the lottery at random for a limited number of tickets priced at $25 each. Only one entry is allowed per person. Cards are checked for duplication prior to drawing. Winners must be present at the time of the lottery drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Limit one entry per person and two tickets per winner. Tickets are subject to availability.

WICKED, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Godspell, Disney’s Enchanted, Academy Award® winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (“My So Called Life,” “Once And Again” and “thirtysomething”), is based on the 1995 best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire.
The musical is directed by two-time Tony® Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Vagina Monologues) and features musical staging by Tony® Award winner Wayne Cilento (Aida, The Who’s Tommy, How To Succeed…). WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
WICKED has been declared “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety and “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly. WICKED currently has eight productions around the world, in New York, London, Japan, Australasian Tour, Latin America, a U.K. Tour, and two concurrent North American National Tours. Since its New York premiere a decade ago, WICKED has grossed over $3.6 billion worldwide and has been seen by over 44 million across the globe.
WICKED has been performed in over 100 cities in 13 countries around the world (U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, The Philippines, and Mexico) and has thus far been translated into five languages: Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Korean.
Winner of over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

I didn’t know that in Miami they had the Lottery system. I saw in The Heights with lottery tickets. Got front row and center. But honestly its rigged. The security guy was flirting with my friend and she didn’t know it. I knew we will get tix once he asked her what her name was. She didn’t want to give to him but eventually she did. Good to have outgoing friends.
