The Sandals Foundation is incredible in all that they do to give back to the people of the Caribbean Islands, so it comes as no surprise that their latest initiative is to help empower women in the Caribbean. In Russia, where my parents come from, International Women’s Day is a highly recognized holiday celebrating all the women in our lives, mamas, sisters, cousins, aunts, friends, etc. It is a holiday that was always celebrated by my parents and one that I grew up thinking of as the “real” Mother’s Day, like the one celebrated in America.
