Matilda The Musical Playing At The Broward Center Is A Must See Family Show!

In continuation of my partnership with Broadway in Fort Lauderdale for the 2017-2018 season comes Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical. I was invited to attend the opening night and was excited to take Emily on a Mama & Daughter date night to see a true classic come to life on stage. Matilda The Musical is enchanting audiences with her smart wit in South Florida through May 7, 2017.

Matilda, Matilda, Matilda

Go. Run. See It. And bring the entire family with you. I’ve never seen Matilda The Musical and wasn’t sure what to expect – I have seen the movie, but it’s always different, especially from the book. What can I say except that I was enchanted the entire time, as was Emily. From beginning to end there wasn’t a moment when my attention drifted. Jaime MacLean starred as Matilda and was just screaming to be loved – smart, funny, and in need of a big hug she owned her role.

Another notable was Dan Chameroy in his role as Miss Trunchbull – his animated character as the mean old grumpy child hating headmaster was worthy of an award. The show-stealer award goes to Gabrielle Beredo who played Lavender – Matilda’s best friend and the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen on stage. Truth be told, my heart was stolen by all the child actors on stage – they were all incredible. Like Annie, you’ll want to put this one in the books as a must see show.

The set was fantastic – I found myself searching out the words spelled out in blocks all across the set on the stage.
