I’ve partnered with Scholastic once again to introduce you to the grooviest dog on the planet! Groovy Joe isn’t your average dog, he’s groovy in all sorts of ways – especially in his love for music, singing and ICE CREAM!!! Who doesn’t love ice cream, right? Well, it’s time to get grooving because some unexpected guests are about to arrive and they want only one thing – ICE CREAM. But is there enough for everyone? Will Groovy Joe share his beloved doggy ice cream?
Sharing is Caring and So is Taking Turns
The girls really enjoy their bedtime stories and I really enjoy the time we get to share with them cuddled in bed each night to read one. A good book always has a great story with a lesson that the girls can learn from and Groovy Joe: Ice Cream and Dinosaurs does not disappoint. We practice different models of sharing and taking turns with the girls. For example, if it’s a toy they both want to play with they must take turns, but only once the other is finished play with it. We don’t force sharing. But when it comes to items that there is enough to go around, then we will encourage sharing, as with snacks, blocks and the like.
In this story Groovy Joe is faced with a dilemma when unexpected guests arrive while he’s eating his beloved doggy ice cream. Not just one guests, but three – three big dinosaurs, each armed with their own spoon. Will Groovy Joe share his ice cream with his new friends? And what happens when the ice cream runs out….what will they all do? Groovy Joe is book definitely worth sharing with your friends – it’s a great tool in teaching children ages 3-6 about sharing.
Groovy Joe was living the dream.
He had a spoon and tub of doggy ice cream.
And he started to sing:
Love my doggy ice cream! Love my doggy ice cream!
