Last year I went on a trip to sponsored by Disney to cover their newest movie McFarland, USA, a movie about bringing together the unlikeliest group of people together to better a community chasing the American Dream. What Disney unknowingly did was bring together a group of bloggers who would become friends and help each other in their own chase of the American Dream. One such blogger that I met was Tiffany whose blog is aptly named Fabulous Mom Blog. Tiffany a wife, and mother of two young children, reminded me so much of myself. Which reminds me, I still need to send her some of those pictures I took of her one year ago on our trip.
Tiffany was my age, her kids just slightly older than mine, and multicultural just like my own. Her husband, Sean – her Prince Charming, supporting her American Dream of blogging just as mine was. While many of our blogs are so similar, they are still so different and we all share the same yet different stories about our lives with you. So why am I sharing Tiffany’s story today? Because Tiffany’s life is no longer similar to mine – Tiffany just lost her husband – far too soon and far too young.
This resonated with me because my mama became a widow at about the same age, with two young children to care for on her own. Fortunately Mama had her own community come to her side to help, and now Tiffany has her blogging community coming to her side to help her during this most trying time. As bloggers we try to help each other out in whatever ways we can, quietly, and without hesitation.
As the sole caretaker and breadwinner for herself and her children, Tiffany needs all the help she can get now. Teresa, another friend and blogger, from Making it All Work set up a GoFundMe account to which many bloggers stepped up to donate to help Tiffany while she laid her husband to rest. Bloggers, friends of bloggers and even strangers have been kind enough to donate whatever they could afford. But this blog post isn’t about asking for money – it’s to give back to you, our readers. All we ask in exchange is that you visit Tiffany’s blog, Fabulous Mom Blog, and support her by reading her articles, sharing them, commenting on them, shopping via her affiliate links, and just visiting to say hello.
Andrew, a friend and blogger – Mommy’s Busy, Go Ask Daddy, from that same Disney trip I met Tiffany on, asked our friends at Disney if they could lend a hand in helping us put together a giveaway in honor of Tiffany and memory of Sean. So a big thank you to our Disney friends for helping us put this to fruition.
This giveaway is being run with a number of other blogs to help raise awareness (and traffic!) to Tiffany’s Fabulous Mom Blog. Please visit her site, follow her social networks, and just show you care. A simple retweet or even comment on a blog post can go a very long way towards putting a smile on her face. And if you click-through any of the affiliate links on her blog, you’ll be helping out one blogging family that’s helped so many others out before.
