  • Okay, going to be completely honest here. This year was my first EVER making original Chex mix ( I KNOW RIGHT!??) I had to use my “phone a friend” lifeline to find out if I was supposed to pop it into the oven or microwave. I honestly had no clue! Some recipes for “original” Chex mix said to use the microwave but I don’t think they had them back when the recipe first originated. I’m glad I used my “phone a friend” lifeline because she recommended the oven to make it crispier. Turns out she was right – it turned out amazing! I also doubled the butter/seasoning mixture (a tip from mom) and it was pure goodness. So my answer is, the original Chex mix recipe from 1952 (with double the butter/seasonings)!
